Emma Augusta Sprenger (F) b. 27 August 1888, d. 28 August 1973
Emma Augusta Sprenger From Emma's birth certificate, her godparents were Herman Seifert and Dorothea Stritte, and the Pastor signing the paper was W. Krebs. She was baptized on 30 Sep. 1888 in Aurora, Ill. The paper also gives the spelling Sprenger for her parents and Haach was her Mother's maiden name. Writing on the certificate says: Mark 16:16 says, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 10:15 says, Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
1935/6 Emma left Eddie due to an affair with the mother of Art Krienke's wife, Mildred Shaw. She moved to Fort Frances since Henry was already settled there. Henry and Beatrice had moved there in 1932, and Art and Milly soon followed. Emma was a very religious person, until the day she died, and she was very hard on Eddie (no smoking or chewing tobacco in the house, no drinking).
1934- Oran says that Dorothea and Henry went back to Tisdale to see Eddie, but Dorothea got into some kind of argument or fight with Milly's mother and that was that. There are pictures of the car and the people from that trip.
Eddie apparently at some time in the 30's did in fact seek out Emma in Fort Frances and tried to make up, but she would have none of it. Tiny Phillips (Jan. 26 1999), also told me that when Eddy came back in the late 30's and tried to make up with Emma, she would have none of it. She shouted and screamed at him and drove him away. But to the day she died, she still was waiting for Eddie to come back to her. To this end Oran recalls that his voice especially over the phone was remarkably similar to Eddies and when he called her she still thought it was Eddie coming back to get her. Tiny Phillips(Frenette) seemed to think that Eddy and Emma Shaw had a son. I have never heard of this.
According to Oran (Cutsie) Krienke, Gramma stated that she could see the glow from the Chicago fire. However, the great fire was on Oct 8, 1871 before she was born. But there was also a fire on Dec 30, 1903 at a large theatre. It must have been huge since 603 people were killed, so this is possibly what she meant. At the time she was probably still in Aurora, Ill., which is 48 km from the centre of Chicago. (The story that she was from Independence Miss. and still saw the fire can not be true as Independence is about 659 km west of Chicago. Emma Augusta Sprenger was born on 27 August 1888, at Aurora, Illinois, USA. She was the daughter of Herman Frederick Sprenger and Johanna Maria Caroline Haach.
